Developing Oral Interaction Skills in Foreign Language Learners through Media Literacy

Few studies in Colombia have incorporated media literacy TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) environments. This paper presents the results of research conducted an upper-intermediate course Language Institute District University (ILUD) Bogotá. A model was adapted to create weekly radio workshops eight-week pedagogical intervention. During study, data were collected from participants' interactions, discussions, reflections, well semi-structured interviews and field notes taken my observations participant-observer. It found that EFL learners mixed-ability group engaged practices, mainly when they reflected upon news through their realities, beliefs, attitudes. The this study demonstrated students developed oral interaction skills acquired diverse strategies helped them discuss messages different outlets, express personal opinions, gather additional information support findings.
